Understanding Expected Value

Expected value (EV) is the average amount you win or lose per bet over the long run. A +EV bet is profitable, a -EV bet loses money.

How to use: Enter the pot size, your bet size, your estimated win % when called, and how often you expect your opponent to fold. The calculator shows whether your bet is profitable and the minimum thresholds for fold % and equity.

Pure bluff example: Pot is 100, you bet 75 with 0% equity. You need your opponent to fold at least 42.9% of the time (75/175) to break even.

Semi-bluff: With a draw (e.g., 35% equity when called), you need fewer folds to be profitable because you have backup equity when called.
